“In comes I, St George!
With sword and shield by my side
A man of courage bold, but yet no bride
I hope to bring the dragon to the slaughter
and so wed the King of Egypt’s daughter.”
Ye merrie folk of Stratford-upon-Avon are cordially invited to join Shakespeare Morris on Thursday 23rd April 2026 from 19:30 onwards outside Shakespeare’s Birthplace for our St George’s Day Dance-out, as it’s also his birthday. This also marks the start of our summer programme!
From Shakespeare’s Birthplace we shall be dancing at Shakespeare’s New Place, Chapel Street, Bancroft Garden, Waterside and finishing up at The Coach House on Rother Street with our last dances taking place outside there at 20:45.
After our winter Mumming programme ended and lots of people wrote in, we have decided FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, to coerce our thespians out of their boxes to perform for you the “Excellent St. George’s Day Mummers’ Play” which will take place at The Coach House, Rother Street from 21:15.
Until then!
Dum-diddy-dum-diddy-da-da-da
We are the Shakespeare Mummers’
Oh not yet!
