About the attraction
We are delighted to welcome the thousands of visitors who come each year to view his final resting place. We are also an active parish church serving the needs of local people. In fact, Christians have been worshipping God on this site for over 1,000 years. Whether you live locally or are planning to visit us from far away, you are assured of a warm welcome! Our aim is that all who come to this beautiful and holy place will be moved by the atmosphere of prayer and praise, an echo of the millions of prayers offered here over the centuries. We hope that you will encounter the transforming love of God in this special place. Entry to the Church is free, however the entry to the Chancel will be £5 per person over 18 and £1 for those 18 and under (no charge for pre-school children).

Our usual opening and closing hours are below. They are always subject to the demands of a busy parish. We quite often need to close at fairly short notice, not usually less than one week's notice (e.g. for funerals). On the day concerned, these times are always listed on the Church notice board in the Churchyard and on the homepage in Today's services and Today's Opening/Closing times. Please note that we are not able to book or schedule tour visits, but groups are very welcome to come by. Our core opening hours: April - October: Monday - Friday: 11am - 3.45pm Saturday: 10am - 3.45pm Sunday: 1pm - 3.15pm November - March: Saturday: 10am - 3.45pm Sunday: 1pm - 3.15pm These times depend on services not taking place. Do check our homepage for up to date information.
