About the business
ZEISS Vision + Eyecare has been run by the Barke family since 1985. Under the guidance of Basil Barke, Alan’s father, Zeiss Opticians was established in Tewkesbury in 1985 and Stratford upon Avon in 1995 with the collaboration of ZEISS Germany. The goal was to provide exclusively ZEISS product using the most advanced technology of its time, to conduct the best eye examination possible.
A significant milestone came in February 2020, when the Stratford-upon-Avon practice underwent a complete refurbishment to mark 25 years in the town. This transformation, made possible through the continued partnership with ZEISS, represented more than just a modernisation of the premises; it was also the beginning of a new chapter. The practice rebranded as ZEISS Vision + Eyecare, reflecting both its heritage and its commitment to delivering the very best in optical technology and personalised care. Today, Alex and Emily Barke continue to uphold these values, combining family tradition with world-leading ZEISS innovation.
